The New Franklin Bulldogs were the 44-29 winner over the Westran Hornets when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. New Franklin was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 49-48 to Westran.
Westran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Wortmann out in front who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kharigan Fuemmeler, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
New Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Westran, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Franklin will take on Fayette at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fayette focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. As for Westran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glasgow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glasgow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Westran is ranked 33rd).
