Basketball Recap: Jazmyne Gilbert and Mira Johnson Secure Win for Heights

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Heights's strategy against Milby on Tuesday. The Heights Bulldogs put the hurt on the Milby Buffs with a sharp 32-7 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Heights was led to victory by Mira Johnson and Jazmyne Gilbert. Johnson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, while Gilbert dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in February.

Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Milby, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heights will host Lamar at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Milby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Van Vleck at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
