Lamar is 10-0 against Dover since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lamar Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Dover Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lamar came tearing into two weeks ago's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maumelle Charter 61-34 on the road. Given Lamar's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Maumelle Charter is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dover posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over Maumelle Charter. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dover.
It was another big night for Logan Young, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Dover's points. Kenzie Mccrotty was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Lamar pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Dover, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
Lamar was able to grind out a solid victory over Dover when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 73-62. Will Lamar repeat their success, or does Dover have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
