Softball Recap: Waldport Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Reedsport, Waldport was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Oakridge Warriors as they made off with an 18-8 victory. This was a revenge game for the Irish: when they faced off against the Warriors back in March, they had to take a 17-13 defeat.

Waldport got a massive performance out of Azura Prince, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Prince also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Savannah Martin was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Waldport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Waldport's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Oakridge, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waldport will face off against Gold Beach at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakridge, they will challenge North Douglas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while North Douglas will come in with three straight victories.
