Lafayette Jefferson is 0-5 against Rossville since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bronchos will square off against the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Rossville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lafayette Jefferson, who comes in off a win.
Lafayette Jefferson proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 18) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Delphi Community, sneaking past 7-6. The win was nothing new for the Bronchos as they're now sitting on three straight.
Reagan Hipsher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ahni Harper and Rilee Clifton did most of the damage at the plate: Harper went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Clifton scored a run while going 2-for-3. Clifton also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Abbigail Griffith was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Lafayette Jefferson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Rossville was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell 6-1 to McCutcheon.
Rossville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Avery Layton gave up six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Rossville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie McDonald, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Rossville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their record is now 4-1.
Lafayette Jefferson came up short against Rossville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Bronchos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
