Chippewa Valley is 0-10 against Dakota since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Big Reds will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Chippewa Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Chippewa Valley came out on top against Almont on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Big Reds walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Raiders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Big Reds.
Anna Kadrovach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cameron Metcalfe was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kenzie Marshall also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Chippewa Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Dakota waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Blue Devils. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Kiley Phelan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Maddie Kruk was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Dakota pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chippewa Valley, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Chippewa Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Dakota struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chippewa Valley might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Dakota in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Big Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
