For the first time this season, Eldon will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the California Pintos and Lady Pintos at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eldon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Eldon will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Fulton, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Monday, sneaking past 7-6. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Colten Bashore and Drew Hinds made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Bashore pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hinds pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. At bat, Bashore went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hinds got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Rhett Bashore was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Talon Barb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, California suffered their closest loss since April 22, 2025 on Monday. They fell just short of North Callaway by a score of 6-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Pintos and Lady Pintos in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost five in a row.
California's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Eldon, their record now sits at 6-1.
Eldon got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against California by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Pintos and Lady Pintos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
