The Oak Grove Grizzlies pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 79-60 to Central Davidson. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oak Grove in their matchups with Central Davidson: they've now lost four in a row.
Oak Grove's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Max Hurt, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists, and Loucas Shoaf who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Hurt has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JB Shabazz, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Central Davidson, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will take on North Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully North Davidson likes a good challenge. As for Central Davidson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Central Davidson's favor as the squad sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Montgomery Central has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
