Fairbury is 1-8 against the Bluejays since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fairbury Jeffs will be playing at home against the Seward Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fairbury has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while the Bluejays will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Thursday, Fairbury came up short against the Wildcats and fell 34-25. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fairbury in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Fairbury had strong showings from Evelyn Timmons, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Micah Friesen, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Seward at home against the Bears on Saturday as the squad secured a 51-16 win. Given Seward's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Bears are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fairbury has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Seward, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Fairbury took a serious blow against the Bluejays when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 50-19. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fairbury was down 27-7.
