The Hughson Huskies will head out to face off against the Pitman Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hughson has six straight wins, Pitman has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hughson will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Escalon, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Hughson came out on top against Escalon by a score of 9-4 on Friday. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Cougars on their field since March 24, 2022.

Kylie Tangney made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Grace Leedom was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Allison Moring was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Hughson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pitman came up short against Turlock on Tuesday and fell 8-4.
Ivy Butler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Keanna Haro, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Hughson pushed their record up to 9-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Pitman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Pitman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hughson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Pitman, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Hughson's sizable advantage in that area, Pitman will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hughson suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Pitman in their previous meeting back in March of 2020. Can Hughson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
