East Bay hasn't had much luck against Lennard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The East Bay Indians will welcome the Lennard Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
East Bay will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Blake on Saturday. East Bay was the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Blake. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won seven in a row.
Cameron Cook was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.
In other pitching news, John Viane looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Gavigan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jeffrey Diab, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
East Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Lennard sidestepped Palmetto for a 3-1 victory.
Myles Wagner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Lennard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Newman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
East Bay's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lennard, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East Bay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lennard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
East Bay came up short against Lennard in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 11-7. Will East Bay have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
