The Banneker Trojans lost against the Mays Raiders on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Banneker was outmatched by Mays at home and fell 81-47. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banneker in their matchups with Mays: they've now lost nine in a row.
Leading Mays to victory were Davenport Cox and Derron Lindsey ii. Cox dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Lindsey ii dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cox has scored all season. Jayshon Arrington was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Banneker's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12. As for Mays, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Banneker will take on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mays, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lithia Springs at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lithia Springs has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three games.
