Bountiful got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Brooks out in front who rushed for 99 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also caught one score. Those 99 rushing yards gave Brooks a new career-high. Ivan Davis also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bountiful was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Bountiful didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Will Smoot and Dawson Allsop.
Meanwhile, West Jordan made easy work of Granger last Friday and carried off a 42-21 win. Considering the Jaguars have won six games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
West Jordan's win came from a few key players Bountiful will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cody Johnson, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards. Ayden Dunn was another key player, throwing for 144 yards and three TDs.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Jordan's defense and their 7.5 sacks. Lesa Misionare was especially locked on to Granger's QB and sacked him four times. West Jordan got some further help from Auston ?Scooby? Tulau: he picked up a sack, made 14 total tackles, and defended one pass.
West Jordan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.1 points over those games. As for Bountiful, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Bountiful might still be hurting after the 31-10 defeat they got from West Jordan in their previous meeting back in October of 2016. Thankfully for the Redhawks, Dylan Krans (who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 52 yards on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
