LEAKEY, Texas -
Sabinal (Texas) extended its winning streak to seven games with a 62-0 victory over Leakey (Texas) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Matt Medina in the first quarter, the Yellowjackets led 48-0 at the half.
Sabinal expanded its lead to 56 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS's lone score in the quarter came on a
Jj Reddick touchdown run.
Medina stood out for the Yellowjackets in the win. He ran for three touchdowns and kicked nine extra points. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
Sabinal went into the matchup giving up only 10.3 points per game. Leakey's zero points were right around their season average of zero per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, SHS came away with a 35-0 victory.
Leakey (1-6) goes up against Medina in a 1A-2 Region IV District 15 game matchup next week, while Sabinal (7-1) locks horns with Nueces Canyon also in a 1A-2 Region IV District 15 game.
