McEwen is 4-0 against the Vikings since December of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The McEwen Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Perry County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
McEwen unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Friday. They took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKenzie. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Perry County was the victim of a rough 49-29 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. While losing is never fun, Perry County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Wildcats are ranked 11th).
Despite the defeat, Perry County got a solid performance out of Cianna Wilson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Byrd, who scored seven points.
McEwen's record now sits at 13-6. Perry County's record is now 11-6.
McEwen was able to grind out a solid victory over the Vikings when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 57-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for McEwen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
