Nolan Donnelly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Sewickley Academy got a massive performance out of Billy Pietragallo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Pietragallo has become a key player for Sewickley Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Charlie Scally, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Monessen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Eden Christian Academy, falling 18-1.
Monessen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was RJ DiEugenio, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Monessen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Sewickley Academy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9.
Everything went Sewickley Academy's way against Monessen in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Sewickley Academy made off with a 15-0 win. Will Sewickley Academy repeat their success, or does Monessen has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
