Even though the James River Knights have not done well against the Carroll County Cavaliers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. James River walked away with a 47-34 win over the Cavaliers. The victory was all the more spectacular given James River's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 14th).
It was another big night for Caitlin Canada, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times she's played. Honesty Liming was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
James River pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Carroll County, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2.
James River will head out on the road to square off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carroll County, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m.
