The Olympian Eagles will challenge the Coastal Academy Stingrays at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a nine-game winning streak alive.
Olympian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Coronado a 3-0 shutout.
Not much got past Alexandra Perez, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Coronado off the board. Perez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacqui De Murguia, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Gabriella Mendiola was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Coastal Academy came out on top against Vista on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Stingrays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Panthers.
Therese Frazer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Frazer was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with six RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Coastal Academy got a massive performance out of Ava Alvarez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cayla Contreras, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Olympian pushed their record up to 15-12-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Coastal Academy, their record now sits at 17-4.
Olympian skirted past Coastal Academy 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Stingrays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
