Maury is 0-10 against Lake Taylor since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Last Wednesday, Maury didn't have too much trouble with Granby on the road as they won 55-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Maury's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Granby is ranked 168th).
Maury's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myla Parker, who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Parker has scored at least 25% of Maury's points. Another player making a difference was Nyla Brown, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Lake Taylor put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 55-25 win over Booker T. Washington. Fans of Lake Taylor have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Maury's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Lake Taylor, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Maury took a serious blow against Lake Taylor in their previous matchup back in January, falling 49-21. Can Maury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
