The Oak Creek Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Taft Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Oak Creek's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Taft's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Oak Creek barely beat Burlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Demons an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Rita Sippy made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Sippy was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Oak Creek got a massive performance out of Aly Skrobis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Lyla Bray was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Taft waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wolfpack.
Michaela Power spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Samantha Ricken was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Oak Creek's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Oak Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Taft in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
