Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Christian Academy Crusaders vs. Covenant Classical Warriors

The Alexander Christian Academy Crusaders are taking a road trip to challenge the Covenant Classical Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alexander Christian Academy has eight straight victories, Covenant Classical has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Alexander Christian Academy came out on top against Sheets Memorial Christian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Eagles. The seven-run effort marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Peighton Harrington was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Micah Gettler was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Gettler is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Covenant Classical's offense. They came up short against NorthPoint Christian Academy on Tuesday, falling 20-0.

Alexander Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average this season. As for Covenant Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
