Baseball Game Preview: Kaiser Cougars vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders

Kaiser and Roosevelt are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Cougars will take on the Rough Riders at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kaiser's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Roosevelt's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Kaiser barely beat Farrington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Governors with a sharp 18-1 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Governors: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt hadn't done well against Kailua recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rough Riders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Surfriders.

Riki Uyeno was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Uyeno wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyson Murata, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Kaiser's record is now 6-2. As for Roosevelt, their record now sits at 5-3-1.

Kaiser came out on top in a nail-biter against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Rough Riders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
