Volleyball Recap: Woodward Academy Starts off Right with Win over Whitewater

Woodward Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Whitewater Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The War Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Woodward Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Whitewater to exactly 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17.

Leah Scantlebury paced Woodward Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Scantlebury got some help from Marissa Jones and her 18 assists. Scantlebury was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Whitewater and nudges their season record down to 3-3-1.

Coincidentally, Woodward Academy and Whitewater will both be playing Jonesboro the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will host the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the War Eagles will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
