El Camino recap September 17, 2013
Homestead scaled the state rankings by moving to 456 from 643 this week, the biggest jump in El Camino. The Mustangs were able to make move up by besting Fremont 56-20.
Cupertino and James Lick played the closest game in the league this week, with Cupertino eventually emerging with a 17-15 victory.
Jerome Holloway and Derek Rositas gave Homestead a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Holloway threw for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Rositas ran for 184 yards. Ryan Allemandi also contributed to the rushing game with 91 yards on the ground.
Holloway and Rositas gave Milo Lewis' team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.
Rositas was the most successful running back in the league this week.
Holloway put up the best numbers in passing as the Mustangs bested the Firebirds. Holloway's favorite target this week was Bryan Erickson, who caught 4 passes for 70 yards.
Milanko Plavsic was the best receiver in El Camino this week as Monta Vista lost to Sequoia. Plavsic racked up 3 receptions for 85 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Holloway and Rositas, Homestead has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Holloway leads the league in passing with 278 yards, while Rositas has rushed for 363 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is the Matadors' Plavsic, with 91 yards on 4 catches.
The Mustangs took down Fremont 56-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Holloway ran for 54 yards in the win.
