After each having a week off, the Antonian Prep Apaches and the St. Michael's Warriors will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Antonian Prep had to suffer through a 59-21 loss at the hands of Regents. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Knights are ranked 129th).
Meanwhile, St. Michael's won against St. John XXIII on September 6th with 34 points and they decided to stick to that point total again last Friday. St. Michael's breezed by St. Andrew's at home to the tune of 34-0. The Warriors' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
A big part of St. Michael's victory came down to the chemistry between Nico Anderson and his top target Pierce Kovacs. Anderson threw for 102 yards and two touchdowns while Kovacs picked up 39 receiving yards and a touchdown. Kovacs was even better on defense, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
St. Michael's wouldn't let St. Andrew's keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. St. Michael's can thank Tristan Lackovich and Ben Brophy for forcing both of them. Another thorn in St. Andrew's side was Miller Bohnsack, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Antonian Prep now has a losing record at 1-2. As for St. Michael's, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
