The Stony Brook Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Luther Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Back in December of 2023, Stony Brook was the victim of a tough 79-54 defeat at the hands of Iona Prep.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Luther's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 70-58 to Portledge. Luther has not had much luck with Portledge recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Luther got a solid performance out of Tristan Elcock, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hugine, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Stony Brook's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Luther, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Stony Brook took their victory against Luther when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 73-48. With Stony Brook ahead 42-20 at the half, the match was all but over already.
