Marlee Flanigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brooke Reasoner was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abby Cuellar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Allen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on Princeton with a sharp 13-3 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.
Morgan Wright made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Wright was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Elliana Kovacs was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kate Bettge was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Allen's victory bumped their record up to 7-10-1. As for Plano West, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plano West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Allen struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Plano West's way against Allen when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Plano West made off with an 8-0 victory. Does Plano West have another victory up their sleeve, or will Allen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
