Baseball Game Preview: Cayuga Wildcats vs. LaPoynor Flyers

For the second straight game, Cayuga will face off against LaPoynor. The Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cayuga is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Cayuga took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand LaPoynor a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the game before.

Colt Mullican made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Cayuga: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Conner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cayuga's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't).
