Aquinas is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Assumption is on a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Aquinas Blugolds will take on the Assumption Royals at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Aquinas has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 418 points over their last six games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Aquinas gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-18 victory over Sparta on the road. 62 seems to be a good number for Aquinas as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Aquinas' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Samantha Davis, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds, and Madeline Murphy, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Fernholz, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Assumption earned a 52-44 win over Abbotsford on Thursday. 52 seems to be a good number for Assumption as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Assumption, their win bumped their record up to 21-0.
Everything went Aquinas' way against Assumption in their previous meeting back in December of 2020 as Aquinas made off with a 69-49 victory. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Assumption turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
