Berkeley Prep is 8-2 against Tampa Catholic since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Buccaneers will square off against the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m.
Berkeley Prep managed to slip by Cypress Creek the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Buccaneers came up short against the Coyotes on Friday, falling 11-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered against the Coyotes since March 11, 2021.
Paige Quinn and Claire Patchen did some serious damage despite the final result: Quinn went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Patchen went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Reese Kurland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic got the win against Newsome on Friday by a conclusive 9-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.
Olivia Ricciardi made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Ricciardi was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Tampa Catholic let Josslynn Grimsley and Jada Johnson run wild. Grimsley went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Kirchen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tampa Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newsome only posted a batting average of .200.
Tampa Catholic's record now sits at 2-0. As for Berkeley Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Berkeley Prep beat Tampa Catholic 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
