Softball Recap: Leland Has No Trouble Against Saratoga

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Scotts Valley, Leland was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Saratoga Falcons 11-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Sabrina Chung was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Chung was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Leland let Sarah Baggott and Kira Yoshioka-Gutierrez run wild. Baggott scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Yoshioka-Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Irene Kim was another key player, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5.

Leland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saratoga only posted an OBP of .300.

Leland's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1. As for Saratoga, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leland will host Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saratoga, they will be playing at home against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Saratoga's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
