The Armijo Royals fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Fairfield Falcons on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 33-30. Armijo just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Armijo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zack Tayeh. Despite the final result, he rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Camarri Hayes, who threw for 291 yards on only 19 passes.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Tucker, who picked up 70 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Tristen Smith, who threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns.
Armijo has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-4.
Armijo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fairfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Rio Americano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
