Hayfield and West Springfield squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Hayfield had to settle for second. They lost 7-0 to the Spartans. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Hayfield got a good showing from Justice Lambert, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Lambert has allowed since back in March.

Hayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for West Springfield, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-3.

As of now, neither Hayfield nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
