Basketball Recap: Aubrie Bolanos Key Part of a Team Effort in Rockets Win

While Goddard's win against Tucumcari wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Goddard Rockets had just enough and edged the Tucumcari Rattlers out 63-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Goddard got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrie Bolanos out in front who went 7 of 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Bolanos has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Jazmin De Leon was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 13 points and seven steals.

Goddard was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tucumcari only racked up nine assists.

Despite the loss, Tucumcari still got an impressive performance from Caylee Benavidez, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Benavidez is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of July Lafferty, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Goddard's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Tucumcari, they moved to 11-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goddard will take on Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clovis will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Goddard surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tucumcari, they will head out on the road to square off against Pecos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tucumcari is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
