Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers

Pueblo East is 1-9 against Lewis-Palmer since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pueblo East Eagles will take on the Lewis-Palmer Rangers at 4:00 p.m. Pueblo East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.

Pueblo East saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-41 win over Canon City. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pueblo East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Garcia, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Garcia has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah Herring, who earned eight points.

Pueblo East was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canon City only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Lewis-Palmer had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by the Kadets to the tune of 65-37. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Kadets are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewis-Palmer has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Pueblo East, their record now sits at 9-4.

Pueblo East suffered a grim 61-37 defeat to Lewis-Palmer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Pueblo East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
