Volleyball Recap: Camryn Shirley Key Part of Team Effort in Ironmen Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Cherryville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Lincolnton Wolves on Thursday. The Ironmen haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Cherryville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 29-27.

Cherryville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camryn Shirley, who had seven digs and four aces. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hudson, who had nine digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Cherryville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Lincolnton had strong showings from Karla Araya-Jiminez, who had 27 digs, and Abigail Campbell, who had 11 digs.

Cherryville's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lincolnton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherryville will challenge East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincolnton, they will face off against North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
