After two games on the road, Chaparral is heading back home. They will take on the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
Chaparral struggled with assists on Wednesday (Cimarron-Memorial had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Chaparral took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cimarron-Memorial.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ghallab is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayshawn Armstead, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 72-61 victory over Del Sol. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Chaparral has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Chaparral suffered a grim 68-47 defeat to Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting on January 2nd. Will Chaparral have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
