The Union County Patriots's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They slipped by Winchester Community 32-31. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Union County has scored all year.
Union County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Stewart led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Boone, who scored seven points.
Union County's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Winchester Community, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Union County will be home for the holidays to greet Seton Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Seton Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. Winchester Community will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Delta at 12:00 p.m. on December 27th.
