Gretna East had won five straight  games  and  Connor Sams did his part to make it six on Thursday. The Griffins came out on top against the Elkhorn North Wolves by a score of  35-23  thanks in part to  Sams, who rushed for 252 yards and three  TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional  as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 107  rushing yards.
 Despite the loss, Elkhorn North still got an impressive performance from   Ethan Beachy, who rushed for 164 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 159 yards and one  TD. Beachy's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Gretna East's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Elkhorn North,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-2.
 Gretna East has already played their next game,  a  35-28  victory against Gretna on the 24th. As for Elkhorn North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  29-27  win against Bennington on the 23rd.
