Butler is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while West Forsyth is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Butler Bulldogs will take on the West Forsyth Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Butler had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Alexander Central, posting a 49-7 win at home. The result was nothing new for Butler, who have now won six contests by 37 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zachary Lawrence, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Williams, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Alexander Central to a paltry 142 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Butler's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Alexander Central's QB won't forget Mark Williams anytime soon given Williams sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, West Forsyth didn't have too much trouble with Ardrey Kell at home on Friday as they won 32-15. Given West Forsyth's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Ardrey Kell is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caleb David was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 44 yards and four touchdowns. Bert Rice was another key contributor, throwing for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Butler's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for West Forsyth, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the pair haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Butler commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like West Forsyth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
