It was a good run, but the Lakewood Lancers unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long Beach Poly. Lakewood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jackrabbits apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Friday.
Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Raphael Johnson, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Lewis, who scored 12 points.
Lakewood's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7. As for Long Beach Poly, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-8.
Lakewood will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jordan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 420 points over their last six matchups. As for Long Beach Poly, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Cabrillo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 101st).
