Softball Recap: Linden's Winning Streak Snapped at 12 Games

It was a good run, but Linden unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-4 to the Summerville Bears. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 18-2.

Nina Lagorio was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Lagorio was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Audrey Pitt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia Fears, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Linden's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Summerville, their record now sits at 8-11.

Coming up, Linden will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverbank at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Summerville, they will venture away from home to take on Bret Harte at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bullfrogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
