The Apple Valley Sun Devils will challenge the Hesperia Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Apple Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, it was close, but Apple Valley sidestepped Serrano for a 5-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sun Devils have posted against the Diamondbacks since April 15, 2024.
Gaven Roper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Andrew Wilson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hesperia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Indio a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Scorpions have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Valencia looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carlos Ramirez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Coscarat, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indio only posted a batting average of .000.
Hesperia is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Apple Valley might still be hurting after the 17-7 defeat they got from Hesperia when the teams last played back in March. Will the Sun Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
