Basketball Recap: Hodgeman County Takes Down Cheylin in a Playoff Battle

Hodgeman County had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed past the Cheylin Cougars to the tune of 59-26 on Monday. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Hodgeman County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Younger, who went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Younger a new career-high in assists (three). Hazen Rydquist was another key player, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals.

Hodgeman County was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cheylin only three assists.

Cheylin's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Wright, who posted nine points. Wright is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pablo Ruiz, who had two points and five rebounds.

Hodgeman County has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Cheylin now has a losing record of 10-11.

Coming up, Hodgeman County will take on Dighton at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dighton will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Hodgeman County surely won't give up without a fight. Cheylin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
