Bernards extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State 38 - Union this week by beating Roselle Park, 36-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Mountaineers.
Bernards moved up to 77 from 125 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mountaineers climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Panthers 36-7.
Bernards' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Devin Ray threw for 277 and three touchdowns and John Maddaluna had 208 yards receiving. On the ground Maddaluna chipped in 32 yards. Robert Schaufler helped Bernards' passing attack out by catching four balls for 33 yards.
Bernards' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mountaineers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ray has thrown for 1034 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Maddaluna has 25 catches for 625 yards. Jon Diamond leads the league in rushing with 487 yards.
Belvidere took down Manville 55-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
