Baseball Recap: Choctawhatchee Gets the Win

Choctawhatchee hadn't done well against Lafayette recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Indians came out on top against the Generals by a score of 13-8. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Aaron Rowell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Choctawhatchee is 6-2 when Rowell allows one or fewer hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Rowell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Choctawhatchee let Jack Marracco and Gant Folendore run wild. Marracco scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Folendore went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Folendore has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Jordan Figueroa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Choctawhatchee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Choctawhatchee's record is now 13-10. As for Lafayette, their record now sits at 8-6-1.

Looking ahead, Choctawhatchee will take on Somerset at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lafayette, they will square off against Campbellsville at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
