The Fayetteville-Perry Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Clermont Northeastern Rockets at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fayetteville-Perry has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests.
Fayetteville-Perry posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Riverview East Academy 51-48.
Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 53-48 to Williamsburg. While losing is never fun, Clermont Northeastern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Williamsburg is ranked 118th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Connor Yeager, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Yeager is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Symon Mattes, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Fayetteville-Perry's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Clermont Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Fayetteville-Perry barely slipped by Clermont Northeastern in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 43-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fayetteville-Perry since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
