There's no place like home for the Lakewood Leopards, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past North Duplin 46-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lakewood's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while North Duplin is ranked 197th).
It was another big night for Honestee William, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kimora Corbett, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Lakewood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for North Duplin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Lakewood will head out on the road to take on Hobbton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North Duplin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
