The Tushka Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Antlers Bearcats on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 54-51. Tushka's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Tushka lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tagen Simon. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That was a full 56.9% of Tushka's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Gregory, who scored eight points.
Tushka's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-13. As for Antlers, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Tushka will take on the Golden Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Talihina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday. As for Antlers, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Haworth knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Bearcats like a good challenge.
