Having just played yesterday, the Rockwell Christian School Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Shining Light Baptist Academy Sharks at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Rockwell Christian School is ranked 442nd, while Shining Light Baptist Academy is ranked 444th).
Rockwell Christian School posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They claimed a resounding 56-14 win over Fayetteville Street Christian on the road.
Rockwell Christian School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Smith led the charge by scoring 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Rockwell Christian School's points. Another player making a difference was Kailey Leepard, who scored 14 points.
Even though Shining Light Baptist Academy has not done well against Mountain View Christian Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Monday. Shining Light Baptist Academy took down Mountain View Christian Academy 42-25. Shining Light Baptist Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shining Light Baptist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Garris, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Garris pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Henegar, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Rockwell Christian School's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. Shining Light Baptist Academy's record now sits at 2-4.
Rockwell Christian School didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Shining Light Baptist Academy when the teams last played on January 8th, but they still walked away with a 26-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockwell Christian School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
